Just wanted to quickly share this look I created ready for a Halloween night out next week!
I’ve been debating which look to go with, and what kind of skull look to attempt.
This look I only used makeup I already owned, plus I dabbed a bit of white face paint on at the end but that’s totally optional!
Face: start by carving out a harsh contour with bronzer then darken with a taupe eyeshadow. Finally sharpen it all with a black eyeshadow. Also extend the contour above the nose to give it a hollowed effect.
Eyes: I wet my brush with a little fix+ and on slightly damp primed eye lids, go in with a black eyeshadow. When the entire socket is covered edge it with a black eyeliner to create circular sockets. Add mascara after wards if you wish.
Nose: create a filled in crooked shape with eyeliner, pat black eyeshadow on to set it in place.
Lips: run concealer or white paint over the lips. With a sharp eyeliner pencil, go from the edges and draw a line. Then pencil in teeth shading the inner line to make them more realistic.
Then boom! All done!
I might add foundation next time to sharpen it up, but for a first attempt I’m pretty impressed with myself.
It’s been soooooo long since I posted that I half thought I was going to give up. My summer was so filled with super holidays and craziness that I didn’t have time to even think about blogging.
But here I am, back at uni, final year and freaking the hell out. And as I lay in bed last night in physical pain wondering who would possibly understand what this felt like, I thought why not write about my anxiety on my blog. Maybe one of you might read it. Hell maybe you even might relate. Who knows.
So yeah. I have anxiety. I’m not properly diagnosed or anything but i’ve been struggling for the past couple of years and toying with the idea of doing something about it.
I am a full on worrier. I worry about things most normal people wouldn’t think twice about. And i let it build up until it seems huge, and I can’t see a way out.
The main thing for me is the physical pain that anxiety causes, that most people don’t understand. When i’m panicky it hurts to breathe and move. My body tingles and my chest throbs, and I can hear my heart beat so loud and fast. And then I panic more obviously.
Half of me thinks I am going crazy. Full on nutter. The other half thinks I am a drama queen and need to chill the hell out.
Isn’t that everyone’s views on mental health though? No one seems to accept it as a part of life, something to deal with head on rather than shy away from?
Everyone has something that they freak out about. Mine just happens to be everything, haha!
But sometimes I wish I knew there was someone else out there, having the same chest pains and the same sleepless nights.
All I can do now is deal with it as best as I can. And light as many scented candles as humanly possible. And do as many yoga classes as my body can take.
Let me know if any of this is remotely relatable to you, or if you have any advice you can share.
This post is basically just gunna compare the two types of powder… As loose powder seems to be the craze at the moment, I wanted to see if it was worth the hype. Also I’m going to let you know what I think of the one I purchased.
I was debating yesterday whether to repurchase my go to powder, Rimmels Stay Matte Pressed Powder or try a loose powder. In every YouTube video I watch at the moment every one is going loose. Especially with the whole “baking” craze. So I looked for one to try, and actually theres not that many highstreet ones out there. I only wanted to go cheap to see if it suited me. I saw the MUA one has tons of good reviews and was only £3! Wasn’t really expecting much for that price to be honest.
The powder comes in one shade, which I assume is transparent but actually is coloured so I’m guessing wouldn’t work on dark skin. However it does blend out colourless. The tub is quite big, and has a lid with tiny holes to dispense a tiny amount.
I haven’t tried baking but with the powder I’m not sure if it would work, as it isn’t white. I will give it a try though! But as a general powder it is so silky and smooth! It disappears once applied and leaves the skin matte, glowing and flawless. I was so suprised how good this product is. A little goes a very long way.
As much as I like my pressed powder, it annoys me how quickly I go through it as I hit pan so quickly. Also it takes a lot of pressure to get a good amount on my brush and then on my face.
The loose powder is so easy and fast to apply. And on the rare super hot day I tested it (also when I had a big verification at work and was sweating like a crazy woman) my skin was still matte and glowing by the end of the day.
So I’m totally converted. And in the future I might try high end products, I hear Laura Merciers is good. But for now this is an absolute bargain.
Let me know your opinions and any good powder tips and tricks to try.
As much as I love splashing out on some gorgous high end products, most of the time my money goes on reliable brands in boots and superdrug, especially with the state of my student loan…
Anyway, some products don’t need you need to waste your money on high end, because they do a pretty damn good job anyway. So these are my favourite go to affordable products…
1. Revlon Colourstay Foundation.
So if you’ve read any of my previous posts you’ll know my absolute love for this. It’s now my only foundation that I chose over many high end products. And recently I repurchased and it now comes with a pump… Win!
2. Makeup revolution blush palette in ultra spice
So this blush palette contains 8 shades, including 2 baked shimmers. The bronze colours I also use as eyeshadow or a sort of bronzer in the summer. It’s quite pigmented and contains a range of colours.
3. Kiko Milano bronzer
I love this bronzer, it’s matte and perfect for both an all over sun kissed look, and as a contour. It’s blendable and pigmented. It also comes with a mirror perfect for in your handbag.
4. MUA shimmer highlighter
This is a recent perchase and I’ll admit, it’s not the same quality as high end products but for £3! You can’t go wrong. It’s super pigmented and easy to apply.
5. Maybelline lash sensational mascara
I’ve spoke about this a million times… Best. Mascara. EVER! And now I’ve saw a new version released with oil to nurish the lashes…
6. Revlon colour burst balm stain
I got this free in a set recently and didn’t have high hopes. But I actually love it for every day. It’s super moisturising and makes your lips look healthy. It provides the right amount of pigment perfect for a day look. Also it smells amazing.
7. Makeup revolution lipstick in rebel with cause
I’ve had this lipstick a while and I love it. It doesn’t dry your lips and stays on well… All for a pound!
8. Kate moss lipstick in 01
Another absolute favourite of mine. I wear this nearly every day I love it. And it’s matte but doesn’t dry your lips.
9. MUA lip liner in caramel nougat
This is also a pound! I always pair it with the Kate moss lipstick. It may need reapplying a few times through out the day but it’s the perfect nude.
10. Rimmel Stay Matte Translucent powder
I do want to try a loose powder eventually but for now this is perfect and well loved as you can see. I always carry it with me for top ups throughout the day.
That’s is for now. Let me know any others I can try!
I’ve been dying to do a review on this because before I bought it there were very few reviews, and they all varied so I thought I’d try it myself. Some people raved about it. Some people didn’t rate it. So this is my honest review.
Colour: Transylvania. I’ve been looking for a dark colour, I wanted a vivid dark plum shade to grunge up my outfit on a night out. It’s dark but not black, it’s slightly warm tone comes through.
Packaging: I know packaging isn’t the most important thing in the world but I wanted to include it. The tube is relatively small, with a twist cap and fluffy applicator. Although the size is handy it doesn’t look like it has that much product in.
Smell: Caramelly sweet and pleasant.
Application: The formula is creamy when first applied, and apples smoothly. However it becomes patchy and not dark enough so required a few coats. Also trying to get an accurate smooth line is impossible. Lip liner is a must but even with that I made a mess that stained and took all my foundation off.
Texture: The product takes a while to dry but is very matte when it does. Only problem is it really drys your lips out so before exfoliate and moisturise.
Staying power: This is the bit I’m most disappointed with. It does not last. Granted I was out and drinking a lot but I had to apply SO MANY TIMES. And when it starts coming off it looks awful. Like your lips are bleeding and scabby. This makes reapplying hard.
Verdict: Not worth your money. Yeah the colours great but I think they aimed for a liquid lipstick and didn’t make the mark. Higher end lipsticks are going to be a better formula I’m guessing. Good for in the day but not for long periods of time or when drinking. I think the lighter colours will be better.
Hope you find this useful. Let me know if you’ve tried it. Also any better brands I could try?
Now before I start, let me just say, if I had to run and be on a beach tomorrow that would be fine. At the end of the day who gives a shit what we look like when we’re having fun on holiday right? Everyone needs to embrace and love their own bodies. But at the same time, if your anything like me, you want to be in extra fine shape when you hit the sand.
It’s just over a month till I jump on a plane, and to be fair I have been exercising pretty regular over the last few months. But these last couple of weekends have been out eating loads of junk and piling on a few pounds and now I’m in panic mode. So these are a few rules I’m going to (try) stick by from now on…
1. Don’t eat after nine o’clock
I find it so hard not to snack while I’m binge watching Netflix at night. Those biscuits are calling my name. But eating late means you don’t work it off or digest it properly. So try and get your meals earlier.
2. Up your water intake.
I’ve recently invested in a filter bottle which encourages me to drink plain water instead of sugary drinks. It also makes exercise more effective and leaves you feeling full.
3. Get into a routine.
Plan plan plan. If you plan your workouts you’re more likely to actually do them. Also making a weekly routine means you target every body area and things don’t get repetitive. Mine currently is:
Monday- Core and arms
Tiesday – Yoga
Friday- Bum and legs
Saturday- Rest day
Sunday- Full body workout
4. Cook from scratch
‘Easy food’ is the stuff that’s usually full of crap. Things like ready meals, takeout, Pizza, jar of sauces are all high in sugar and saturated fat. Cooking things from scratch allows you know what’s actually in your food.
5. Walk more.
Whether it’s taking the stairs instead of the lift. Walking the long way to work. Getting off a bus stop earlier. Staying active will have a big impact and every little bit helps right?
So there are my tips for now. If you are going away have a great time! If you have any other tips let me know!
It’s that time of year where we all rush and start buying bright summery clothes in the hope of a glimpse of sunshine. But if your lucky enough to be leaving the country you can swap the umbrellas for some shorts!
So I’ve started getting stuff in preparation for my Vegas getaway… Be prepared to see a lot of shorts.
Lace shorts- Topshop £15
These were in the sale and are so gorgeous. They flatter me so well and the lace detail is so pretty. They can be paired with any colour top but I’m going to pair it with either black or white.
Cropped vests- Topshop 2 for £10
These are perfect easy tops to throw on on holiday. And as I’m always in high waisted jeans they’re perfect for everyday too.
Leather platform sandals- Miss Selfridge, £20
These were part of the sale at the moment and are so gorgous. Being platforms they are flat and comfy but still give you height, perfect for walking around at night. The shiny band adds something unique to the standard shoes everywhere at the moment.
White skirt – Miss Selfridge £17
This is so heavy and good quality! I love the detail at the bottom and white goes perfect with everything. This is something completely different to my usual style. I usually only go for fitted plain styles so something girly and shaped is a nice change.
Shorts- H&M £8
More shorts. These are light jersey perfect for the day and the pattern is really quirky and funky. They do a variety of colours.
Shorts- Primark £4 each
And even more shorts. These aren’t amazing quality but it’s not like I’m going to wear them much other than on holiday. There’s so many styles and for that price you can’t go wrong.
I was desperately in need of some makeup so I had a little splurge. I needed some more of my beloved revlon foundation, which now comes with a pump! Happy days! Then I got the concealer to match. Then I got this nyx liquid lipstick I’ve been dying for this for ages… It’s actually a massive let down but I’m going to do a full review soon. Then I got a matching liner from Kiko Milano.
Boots are doing a fab offer at the moment. If you spend £15 on revlon you get this free set worth £30! It’s full of full sized products! Comes with a eyeshadow palette, liner, nail varnish and lip butter.
So that’s it for now! Hopefully the wonderful British weather gets better so I can make use of all those shorts!
It’s been too long since I last posted, I’ve been so busy! June seems to be such a manic time for everyone just lately. I thought I share a makeup look I’ve been loving lately, to start embracing the summer!
This look is one you can wear in the day or night, with glowing skin and a statement lip.
Nars sheer glow foundation
Rimmel stay matte powder
Beauty uk brow powder
Rimmel clear brow gel
Revolution eyeshadow palette
Collection felt tip liner
Kiki Milano bronzer
Mua baked highlighter
Rimmel lasting finish lip liner in spice
Collection lipstick in rosewood
I wanted to keep my skin really light and dewy so I used my sheer glow foundation. I didn’t use any blusher, just heaps on bronzer to create the sun kissed look. I did a slight contour but nothing harsh, then added lots of highlighter to the tops of my cheeks, lips and nose.
For the eyes I applied a neutral base, then blended a dark brown in the crease. I added a shimmery rose gold to the lid and a highlight under my brow. I then did my usual flick eyeliner and mascara.
Then I wacked on my liner an lipstick. This lipstick is so moisturising but really pigmented.
I loveeee this look at the moment, it goes with nearly every outfit. You could always swap the lip colour for any other bold colour, maybe a bright pink or red? The base and eyes will go with any bold lip so mix it up.
Now before I get into this post let me just say… This is not how I eat every day! Most days I’m sneaking biscuits or shovelling crisps down my throat. But I’m making a conscious effort now to start eating healthier to get in shape for my holiday and so I feel better overall.
This is what I eat on a typical healthy day in the week, when I’m cooking for just myself and I have time to cook something yummy.
I love having porridge for breakfast as its quick and simple and fills you up! All you need is oats and milk which I always have anyway. Today I threw chai seeds on. These are like little magic seeds, they have so many health benefits, taste of nothing so can go on everything. Buy them in bulk from places like TK Maxx. Then I usually add a fruit like strawberries or raspberries. I had a decaf coffee with this.
For lunch I pretty much always have a wrap with chicken or ham, salad and avacodo. I loveeeee avacodo. And these wraps are chilli flavour which is so much more tasty. I had a cup of tea after this and snacked on some walnuts.
I like to cook and have substantial and hearty meals. Tonight I had chicken casserole with jacket potato and veggies. I like to try new things but also stick with easy and tasty meals like this. I’ll always have a glass of water with my meal.
After my meals I sometimes have a flavoured green tea, as I’ve read how amazing it is for you. This one is strawberry cupcake flavour which makes the green tea easier to stomach haha!
Depending on how filling my dinner was, I might have an evening snack around 8 o’clock. Recently I’ve been loving walnuts, I have a massive grab bag to snack on when I’m peckish.
Then I’ll have a cup of tea before bed and more water.
I drink water and squash constantly through the day to keep hydrated.
I got so excited when these arrived this week because I wanted to do an honest review and let you guys know whether it’s worth it. Plus I wanted to see if they lived up to my expectations, and if it was worth getting more.
So I’d read a bit about these on a few blogs and Instagram. They are by ‘Tonsee’ on Amazon, and they basically sell dupes of brushes and tools, such as real techniques brushes, beauty blenders and artis face brushes. I had my eye on a set of real techniques bold metal dupes but I thought I’d try a few first than dive into a set.
So I got the fan brush, which was just over a pound I think. When it arrived it was slightly crushed and bent in the case, but after one use it fanned out to what it should be. The bristles are so soft, and the brush is sturdy and well made. I intended on using it with highlight but ended up using it to bronze and contour. It’s so fluffy and blends really well. So chuffed with this!
Next I was desperate to see if the artis dupes held up. I got it with a brush egg, to clean my brushes, which both together were reduced to 97p. I know. I wasn’t holding out much hope for the brush. But I was so wrong. There are so many soft bristles compact that it’s like velvet on the skin and doesn’t leave any streaks. It’s quite small, so is best to blend harder areas such as under eyes and nose. Yes it’s plastic handle isn’t the most fancy ever, but really what do you expect. It does the job and I don’t see why you would pay a fortune when this is so fab. I’m definitely going to try a bigger one they have, which comes with a metal handle too. The brush egg is also fab, and is sort of standard with those products so you can’t go wrong.
They took just under two weeks to be delivered, at the start of the period they suggested. They were packaged nicely and in almost perfect conditions ( just the squashed brush).
They do a huge range of brushes and sets for such ridiculously cheap prices it’s worth having a look for some experimenting. At the end of the day nothing is going to beat unboxing sigma or zoeva brushes, but for those who don’t want to fork out that much or like me, can’t really afford it right now, then these are perfect.
